We understand the need to be creative and flexible when it comes to telecommuting and other alternative work arrangements. This position is eligible for our hybrid remote work program which allows employees to work remotely two days a week. This position has flexibility in choosing which two days, in addition to Wednesday, will be worked in the Bethesda, MD office.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

Our Commercial and Industrial (C&I) Team proudly serves the businesses of our local community. We offer competitive, Commercial Loans and Lines of Credit, Treasury Solutions, Acquisition Financing, Equipment Leasing, Owner Occupied Commercial Real Estate, Small Business Lending, SBA, and Other Financing solutions. Our teams propose value add solutions that are creative and flexible to help small and middle market businesses goals become a reality.

The Lending Team is divided by region, with a Market Executive leading each of our teams. The core competency of the banks lenders runs to all types of businesses, including government contracting, non-profits, bond financing for schools and other organizations, healthcare, and professional service firms.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This experienced Commercial Credit Underwriter underwrites new and existing commercial loans through analysis of borrowers credit history, financial performance, current market trends, collateral, and feasibility. Using spreads and analysis of financial statements, real estate spreadsheets, tax returns, A/R & A/P agings and proformas/forecasts for C&I, Commercial Real Estate, and SBA loan requests.

Deals will generally be large and complex. Supports Lending Department by providing personal and business credit reports, property values based on third party data and industry analysis as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Finance, Economics or related field in lieu of 3 additional years of experience in commercial credit, financial statement analysis and formal credit training.
  • 5 years of analysis in commercial credit or middle-market experience.
  • Web-based credit training through RMA or Omega or similar programs required.
  • General working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong logic and math skills.

PREFERENCES

  • Leadership or supervision experience.
  • Other banking experience helpful.
  • Formal credit training program.
  • Experience with spreading software.
